Overview:

Non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) are fast emerging as an important Segment of Indian financial system. It is heterogeneous group of institutions (other than commercial and co-operative banks) performing financial Intermediation in a variety of ways, like accepting deposits, making loans and Advances, leasing, hire purchase, etc.

Frequently Occurring Problems are:
• Non Receipt of Refund Order/ Allotment Advise related.
• Non-Receipt of Dividend
• Non-Receipt of Share certificates/Units after allotment/transfer
• Non receipt of Bond Debentures / Interest / Redemption Amount
• Offer for Rights Issue
• Non-receipt of Investments and returns thereon on Collective Investment Schemes / Plantation Companies
• Non-receipt of Fixed Deposits related amounts
• Demat Grievances

Redressal System-

Tier I - In the First Tier the details of the company registered under Company law whom the consumer should approach right from the Branch to the Head Quarters.

Tier II -
The Second Tier information concentrates on Registrar of companies (ROC) and Company law board (CLB) the regulatory authorities, government officials etc.

Tier III - The Third Tier i.e. the courts are brought into the picture only when the first two tier do not result in Redressal.

In case the complaints are related to share brokers and companies First level is to contact the company of which the shares are purchased (or their registrar and share transfer agents). Secondly, the respective stock exchanges (BSE/NSE) and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). Lastly, Ministry of Finance, (Department of Capital Markets).
